About
My name is Christina Perrocheau and I am 51. As a woman going through perimenopause myself, I understand the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges that this transition can bring. Just a few months ago when the reality hit I was going through perimenopause, I realized how limited the resources and support for women like us were when I when online for help and when I talked to my doctor.
Online info about menopause, while plentiful, seems so vague – get more sleep, eat well, exercise, reduce stress… Umm, ok, if only it were that simple. And when I talked to my doctor, a woman younger than me, I was told to eat yogurt and to just get through it.
I am no stranger to finding out information for myself. I was diagnosed with hashimoto’s thyroiditis when I was 39 (which I am now wondering if it was just another symptom of menopause) and was told “Take this medicine. You’ll be on it for the rest of your life.” My symptoms did not get better until I changed my diet. Now, here I am in perimenopause getting the same type of vague advice.
So I have decided to create a space where we can come together, share our stories, and help one another navigate this transformative time in our lives. Thank you for joining me in The Pause Lounge!
